Our breeding philosophy:
| Our kennel device - which is included in our logotype but in Swedish- says "Windedos Aussies- more than brain". (It doesn't show in English, but in Swedish and how the words are spelled and pronouneced it is also a kind of play with words that can sound like "Windedos Aussies- love to have one".) Still, the device for us is very much a goal and for us it means that that our breeding is limited to dogs we really believe have the traits that deserves to be carried on. Brain is important and basic, but we also want the dog to have that special personality, trainability and power that differs a good dog from the average dog. We believe that breeding based on dogs that are just "good enough" seldom helps a breeder to develop a long time quality breed program, nor develops a breed. We do not think that our dogs are free from faults or 100% correct. Quite the opposite, during our more than 30 active years in the dog world we still have left to meet the perfect dog. For us breeding is a long time committment where every step on the way is carefully valued and discussed, based on each dogs advantages and disadvantages. That means we need to learn about each individual and their pedigrees. |

Our priority is sound healthy dogs with high working capacity and instinct and with a construction and type that promotes the work they are meant to do. We believe the home where the dog is placed is one important part of what the dog will accomplish, since the team work between a good dog and a good handler is important to reach results. But from our point of view that is just one part. A good handler with a dog that lacks abilities will be very limited. After owning, training and trialing working dogs for 30 years our opinion is that the working capacity of the dog is founded through focused breeding. Then- in the next step - it will be up to the owner/ handler how far the team will reach. That was our opinion, based on experience, before we started our own breeding, and that is the opinion we in the future will strive to stay with. Since working capacity and health are our main priorities we choose not to include dogs in our breed program who we thinks doesn't fulfill our demands in thoses areas. We base our opinions on working our own dogs, careful selection of males and extended research about the dogs we use, their pedigrees and related dogs. If possible we also try to get a personal opinion about dogs we plan to use for example with AI, even though they live in other countries. |
